School Restaurant
St James’s runs its own in-house catering service offering a wide choice of healthy, nutritious hot and cold meals for pupils, staff and visitors. The lunchtime menu operates on a three week rotation.

The school restaurant is not just available at lunch time; it is also open during break when students can buy bacon sandwiches, cereal, toast, sandwiches, drinks and other snack items.
Some students may wish bring a packed lunch to school and this can be eaten in the school restaurant.
We also offer regular themed lunches.

Cashless Catering
At St James’s we operate a cashless catering system. Your child will have their own lunch account which can be topped up online at your own convenience.

Free School Meals
Income related free school meals can be given to your child in any year at school.
This includes nursery children if they attend before and after lunch at a local authority nursery school or nursery class.
If you get any of the benefits below, you can claim free school meals.
- Income Support
- Jobseeker's Allowance Income based
- Employment Support Allowance Income related
- Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed Pension Credit
- Universal Credit - your earned income must be less than £7,400 a year
If your child receives free school meals, they will continue to receive them until the end of the 2025/26 school year. After this time, if you no longer meet the criteria, free school meals will end.
